Stamping for Fun

Sometimes it is really easy to get caught up in the business of Stampin' Up!...this news that we are going back to 1 catalog per year (yes, it's true) has set my brain free to stamp for fun.

Well, getting ready for classes is fun for me. These three cards are for the Simply Cards Class I'm doing tonight. (To see all the details, go to "My Favorites" folder at the left.) About a year ago, I decided to change my techniques classes to simply cards. This too, sets my brain free to design with fewer boundaries - I get to stamp whatever strikes me at the moment. Still wanna learn new techniques? They are here, hidden in these cards are a shadow box, sponging resist, and die cutting - "simply" what inspired me yesterday.

Better than the Color Coach!

I love, love, love, the "Flock Together" designer series paper! I know, I'm as fickle as a teenager - I don't even remember what I said I loved last month. But at my age, that's a whole other problem.

Anyway, what a color combination! I wouldn't have ever tried this on my own - So Saffron, Tempting Turquoise, Certainly Celery, and Garden Green??? Yes, that's right.

Just check in the catalog, the coordinating colors are printed right under the papers.

So here's the simple formula...

...pick your favorite dsp, make the card of one of the lighter coordinating colors, make the paper "pop" by backing it with on of the darker coordinating colors, stamp your image in those colors, and add some coordinating ribbon. BTW, the coordinating set is "Bird on a Branch". Just like "Garanimals"!

This card is made using the "Yummy" stamp set from the 4 Sale-a-bration sets offered this year. I also used (one of)my favorite designer series papers, Good Morning Sunshine. Just the name makes me smile. A "Latte" button, and the "simple flower" embosslit - it not only embosses the flower but cuts it out. Hooray, no more fussy cutting! That "thread" in the button? It's a shaving of the dsp - a totally fun way to keep everything PERFECTLY coordinated.
